The Oregon Road Film Series (ORFS) Film Challenge is returning this Friday, October 11, 2024. Get ready to kick off the popular event!
The ORFS Film Challenge allows participating teams a 48-52 hour time frame to create a short (up to 8-minutes) film with a specific theme of their choosing.
“This event takes teamwork, dedication, and focus to allow teams to create a film with a cohesive and engaging story in a short period of time. And, it is a blast!” Jen Hazel, Professor of English and one of the organizers of the event stated.
The ORFS Film Challenge will begin at the “Kick-Off” on Friday, October 11, 2024 at noon in College Hall 100 and end Sunday, October 13, 2024 at 8 p.m. unless verbally stated otherwise at the “Kick-Off.” Films received after the deadline will not be accepted as part of the judging.
The ORFS Film Challenge is open to any and all filmmakers, who are Owens students; members of the teams do not have to be Owens students or alumni of Owens. Also, Hazel stated, “this year we will be adding a faculty and staff category, as we have had so many requests for one.”
ORFS does reserve the right to limit the total number of filmmaking teams based on arrival time at the “Kick-Off.”
Each film must include the three elements assigned to the teams at the “Kick-Off” on October 11, 2024. The finished film must be between three and eight minutes in length including credits.
For additional rules and guidelines pertaining to the ORFS Film Challenge please refer to the ORFS section of the Owens website.
Just last year, the ORFS Film Challenge had 11 films submitted. These films were all great showcases of the amount of skill and hard work that it takes to film an intriguing story in a 48-52 hour window.
The winners of last year were as follows, and the films can be seen on the website.
