Owens employee, local filmmaker and content creator Larry D. Williams II is having his first featured directorial preview at the Maumee Indoor Theater on Aug. 23. “A Summer to Remember” is produced by One Stop Light, and will be shown in Maumee, Ohio. It presents “a coming of age film that deals with life that everybody can relate to the characters in some manner,” said Williams. The movie is about a bully who learns of his father’s abused past, and one special summer camp. He sets out to make his father’s 30- year cameo reunion unforgettable.

Williams explains that the movie is unlike others in production. This film was filmed entirely on the Google Pixel 2 cellphone. He says he was not open to the idea at first. However, after working with the staff and looking at production of the film, he was more open to the idea. A key lesson he took from this experience was that fancy and expensive gear is not necessary, and to “keep an open mind when doing things.”

“If someone takes the time to learn a craft and learns the tricks of the trade, they can create successful work,” he said.

The film is written by Jeff Frey, cinematographer Dustin Mills, and stars actors Adam Buck and Zoe Cross-Nelms.
