On August 28th, Owens opened a tent for the Student Employment Service in Heritage Hall.
Alan Lepard, the Job Location and Development Coordinator here at the Perrysburg campus, was present to answer any questions passersby had, as well as speak about what Student Employment Services offers.
Lepard went into detail about what he hopes students who go through employment on campus experience, as well as their futures after graduation.
“Our goal is that we can have career pipelines for our current students who can work as student employees, and once they’re finished with their certificates or degrees, they can move right into their career field, whether that’s here at the college or in the community.”
He also spoke about how the Student Employment Service has expanded in his time working for the school.
“I’ve been on staff here at Owens for two years now, and I’ve seen very marked increases in number of students interested in work… we’ve also increased the number of positions that we have. When I started here in 2023, we had 13 offices who hire students. We now have 21, with two more pending.”
