The Owens School of Business, Hospitality Management and Public Safety hosted their Career Fair on Wednesday, March 26, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in Heritage Hall 123.
Many businesses offered summer work and internships for both Owens students and alumni.
Christiana Everly, an Owens Student who was present at the event, had a chance to speak with many potential employers and learn more about what they had to offer.
“I decided to stop by because I had a little bit of time between classes, and I thought it would be interesting to look for part time jobs for this summer,” she explained.
“There was a wide variety [of occupations]…I got to learn about a variety of different things. The last table I stopped at… was one for substituting. I was actually a preschool teacher for a few years! So I definitely want to look into that.”
Along with students, employers had a chance to make connections. Eloisa Beltran, the head of catering at the Toledo Zoo, spoke about the fair and her experiences.
“I think we got some really good candidates, a lot of people are looking for summer work and the zoo is hiring in every department you can think of!”

She also spoke about how job fairs like this have helped the Zoo. When asked if fairs like these help promote employment, she responded firmly with, “They do.”
Owens will continue to host job fairs like this for the foreseeable future, with the next one being a Dental Job and Networking Fair being held on the 4th of April in the Math and Science building.
