On Tuesday, March 18th, the March Madness Streaming Party brought out the basketball spirit with make-your-own brackets, food, drinks, a basketball arcade game and nonstop March Madness games that ran from 11 am to 2 pm.
Many volunteers where there to help out the crowd and to hand out pizza, drinks and brackets, where whoever is the closest to the actual winners, wins a free gift card.
One of the volunteers, Melissa, recapped how busy it has been. “It’s been pretty relaxed. We have only been running for about an hour now, but we have had large rounds of people. People usually come in groups and such, and this event is a great socializing place.”
This event played out to promote the March Madness Basketball games that are taking a place and to portray a place where students and staff can de-stress, watch and play some basketball and eat some pizza. Having the event in the SHAC allowed for a great place for nursing and art students to mingle and have fun.
Angel, one of the students attending the event, shared some of her thoughts about the streaming party.
“This event is so cool! It is a great place to meet new people, especially people that you weren’t able to come across if you weren’t in their classes. It gives you a chance to interact, to have fun. And, they got pizza for us, so they really want us to stay. I really just like that they’re open to host this event, as it showcases that we belong and how they care for us as we de-stress.”

As the event came to an end, March Madness has just begun. The games are rumored to play until April 5th, 2025. As time progresses, let’s see how the games play out to see who is close into winning that gift card!
