Owens student finalist for innovative creative radio

Second national recognition for college station

Perrysburg, OH— December 12, 2019Kevin Higginbotham, producer and talent of the Drew Scott Show, available on Owens Community College Radio (OCCR), was selected as a finalist for the Intercollegiate Broadcast Systems (IBS) 2020 College Audio Media Awards.

Higginbotham attends Owens Community College (OCC) and is a student staff worker for Owens OutComm Student Media, the center that houses OutCast OCCR which streams his weekly program on Thursdays at 3pm. Higginbotham said, “I am humbled by the acknowledgement and excited about the attention this will bring our school and program.”

IBS honors the best and brightest among college media. This is the second time in three years for students and OCCR programming to be recognized. Current OCCR station manager Herbey Atkinson, along with Owens graduate David Brehm, were finalist in 2017 as OCC students for Best Artist/Band Interview.

Winners of the IBS Media Awards will be announced in March 2020.
