Owens Community College in Toledo holds a beginner’s Yoga class in the Student Health and Activities Center. According to the class search on the Owens Community College website, this class is offered to introduce students to yoga as a total conditioning exercise method combining balance, flexibility, and strength from both Eastern and Western cultural aspects.

The class instructor is Paul Choi. When asked what he wants students to take from the class, he replied that “flexibility is probably number one… flexibility more than anything… that’s the key”. The other end goal of the class is to make sure that each student knows the name of the yoga poses and knows how to do that pose when asked to.

As the class progresses, the students follow along to audio telling them the next move, and Choi performs the exercises with them in front. With a fully mirrored wall facing them and behind them, Choi can see where they go right and where they go wrong, giving tips as the class goes on.
