50 Shades of Grey was oh so fittingly released on valentines day this month, but before it even hit the big screen there was intense controversy about the BDSM (bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism, masochism) acts and wether or not Miss Anastasia Steele was being forced or seduced by Christian Grey to engage in these acts. This controversy and curiosity from viewers drew in over 400 million dollars globally after the first week in theaters. When the trailer for this sensual film was first released we were not sure how far they would take it, but were delightfully surprised that a lot of the book was included while still keeping the film classy and respectful for the BDSM community.

So, did the 50 Shades fans get the passion that they expected? They received that and more! Dakota Johnson was absolutely stunning as Anastasia Steele in her role as Grey’s potential submissive. Her sexual inexperience and awkwardness made her even more charming and funny. Jamie Dornan played the famed and incredibly seductive Christian Grey.

The two meet during an interview and viewers can almost feel the sexual tension between the two. Grey is the type of man who seems to always gets what he wants, so when he starts pursuing Ana, he immediately has her hands bound above her head, figuratively and literally.

Of course, when the movie becomes sexual there is some nudity but the majority of it is suggestive. Those scenes are actually the most beautiful, including the camera angles, lighting, and just overall feeling of passion and lust we get in those intense moments.

Most of the time, fans will read the book then see the movie and end up disappointed because their favorite details were left out. Not, with 50 Shades. It almost felt like we could feel what Ana was feeling without the awkwardness that most sex scenes bring.

Not only was the movie very visually appealing, the lead actors did an impeccable acting job. It was hard not to root for either one of them.

Then there is the dramatic ending where Ana leaves Christian that brilliantly leaves us in shock and feeling emotional, making fans everywhere itch to see the sequel.

50 Shades was 122 minutes of intriguing new age romance. This is not the last we will see of Anastasia and Christian and hopefully the next film, 50 Shades Darker, that should arrive in late 2016, will bring in just as much controversy, drama, passion, and entertainment as 50 Shades of Grey did.
